News hardware Meta: Facebook relies on France for its Metaverse academy
The giant, a sector everyone has been talking about for several years, will establish its educational headquarters in France. With the help of Simplon Digital School, META plans to launch its metaverse academy for the start of the 2022 school year. This free school will be dedicated to understanding the metaverse in order to expand employment opportunities in this area.
META, a Facebook group, continues its search for the metaverse by opening an academy specializing in the virtual world in Paris, Lyon, Marseille and Nice.
To achieve this, the American company entered into a partnership with the French educational start-up Simplon. Montreuil specializes in training dedicated to digital professions.
He trains on topics such as:
- infrastructure and cyber security
- Application development
- Digital basics
- Data and artificial intelligence
And now, the metaverse.
This academy intervenes with the aim of developing opportunities in this sector by popularizing and finding future jobs in the metaverse. According to the custom of new technologies, the school will train classes of 20 students per city from the beginning of the school year 2022.
“We are looking for people from all populations, and our goal is to have 30% women in this first class,” explained Laurent Solly, CEO of Facebook in France.
“We assume the side of ‘positive discrimination’ and ‘diversity’, we don’t look at biographies.” specifies Frédéric Bardeau, president of Simplon.
Quite broad criteria that offer the possibility to a large number of people to apply, but the choice will be difficult due to the very limited number of places.
At the beginning of the school year, the lucky ones will first be trained in the 3D development tools of the metaverse with the aim of creating an increasingly realistic environment. Metaverse is a 3D social network, students will also approach new concepts of interaction in favor of a better user experience.
“Training will not focus on the use of the metaverse, it is something that remains rather unclear. We will only be interested in 3D and interaction in space; it will be a teaching method based on face-to-face projects, ”explains Frédéric Bardeau, President of Simplon.
Through his courses, the two partners hope to open up a field of employment opportunities in the metaverse and perhaps find new jobs related to the social network of the future.
This project highlights the ambition of the META Group, which announced in 2021 that it wants to create 10,000 jobs in Europe by 2026.
Early deployment, providing an opportunity for META to identify and develop potential skills necessary for the metaverse, given future requirements in the sector.
Two partners explain:
“80% of occupations in 2030 have not yet been invented, so now is the time to do it. »
By training directly on its Horizon Worlds metaverse, META could impose these standards as standards for all other metaverses to widen the gap with other competitors such as The Sandbox, Decentraland and others …
