Matthias Rochette is on trial on Monday, June 20 and Tuesday, June 21, for raping a young girl in Bessèges.
The case is unique and reminiscent of successful television series. The intervention of the highly popular American investigative service, the famous FBI, made it possible on December 16, 2019, to identify and arrest a 42-year-old man who had an affair with a 12-year-old girl, while he was dating her mother.
During that period, the Central Office for the Suppression of Violence against Persons (OCRVP), the country’s judicial police service responsible for dealing with murders, disappearances of children, rape, child pornography, sectarian aberrations, received information from its US counterparts in the FBI. which passed through the Association for the Defense of Abducted and Exploited Children.
The case was marked by international cooperation
Created by the United States Congress and funded by the Department of Justice National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), which translates as “National Center for Abducted and Exploited Children”, is close to an association whose mission is to exchange information and resources between the country’s investigative services, schools, parents and children, in order to find missing minors.
NCMEC has access to the databases of the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation), the equivalent of the judicial police in France, and can report to the relevant services, including abroad.
The relationship would come naturally
The intelligence service transmits messages recorded on the social network Facebook in September 2019, in which a 40-year-old man, identified as Matthias Rochette, who lives in Bessèges, probably had sexual relations with a 12-year-old girl at the time of the facts. .
The PJ Central Office conveys this warning to the Ales Public Prosecutor’s Office, which entrusts the investigation to the gendarmes of the Ales Research Brigade. The court investigation was opened on January 28, 2020, barely a month and a half after the initial alert.
During police custody, Matthias Rochette partially admits the facts, but denies any violence against the very young girl. The relationship would come naturally. An investigation will reveal a reciprocal love affair. And the instruction will not make it possible to establish the existence of any violence or physical coercion of the accused in order to obtain sexual services.
In the 1940s, the weather postman in Bessèges, however, was aware of the abnormality of the connection. He would tell the young girl on several occasions that it was impossible to continue this relationship, but he would blackmail him into suicide.
The young girl has the greatest difficulty in clearly stating the facts before the gendarmes and the investigating judge. In his report, the expert psychologist emphasizes the difficulty in contacting the victim and obtaining answers to the questions asked. However, the expert believes that “The maturity of a young girl does not put her in the psychological capacity to experiment with adult sexuality.”
As for the accused, the psychiatric examination reveals sexual preferences characterized by the search for sexual pleasure with an inappropriate partner, such as a child, or in abnormal circumstances. At the same time, the man suffers from alcohol addiction.
The defense attorneys for the defendants, Mes Elsa Longeron and Rémy Nougier, did not want to say in this file that they considered “delicate”. The charge is being brought by Advocate General Bertrand Baboulenne. The debates should take place behind closed doors on June 20 and 21. The verdict is expected on Tuesday night.
