Another video on learning SEO. Following last week’s general curriculum diagrams, we now turn to the issue of daily monitoring of SEO news: what are the main sources of information in the field, in English and French? And how best to manage them on a daily basis?
Learning natural referencing is a process that can be quite long, but must be mastered from beginning to end as part of a rigorous methodology applied over time.
After the general diagram last week, let’s talk today about the continuation of SEO news, which is necessary to keep up to date with what is happening in the small world of search engines: what are the main sources of information, in English and French? And how can you best manage them by including them in your daily schedule? Here are a few things to think about…
So you will learn more about it by watching this video number 226:
SEO Training and Learning: News Tracking – Video no. 226 proposed by Olivier Andrieu (Abondance). Source: Abundance
Transcript of SEO video 226: “SEO training and learning: following the news”:
“Hello and welcome to this 226th Abundance video in which I wanted to continue talking to you about learning SEO and therefore about the second part of this series of news tracking videos. A little reminder of the previous video (number 225) in which I suggested a general diagram of how I see SEO learning and in this general diagram – I invite you to watch the video – in this general diagram there was daily news tracking, which seems important to me in learning, while learning SEO.
News, what does that mean? This really means that all the SEO information we see arrives every day, ie daily news: these can of course be algorithm updates, “basic updates”, ie new algorithms, algorithm modifications, deleting algorithms, new relevance criteria, or changes or deletions, new , modified, deleted tags, all ads finally search engines, new features or functions that have also been abandoned from Google Search Console or Bing Webmaster Tools, announcement of new engines – now we are starting to have a lot and it is interesting to see their creation, their life and their tracking – studies on SEO or visibility, innovative tools, etc. We are not on detailed articles such as “how to position” or “how to optimize”, “how to set up an SEO strategy”, this will be the following video. Here we are really on search engine news.
Sources of information, of course, exist, and we will start with the official sources, which are search engine blogs including Google and Bing. I chose two for Google: the search blog, the information retrieval blog, and the Webmaster Central developer blog, which has a lot of information. Be sure to follow the English version of this blog, not the French version, because the English version is better updated than the French version, in any case faster. For Microsoft Bing is a blog for webmasters. We will already have official search engine resources from which we recovered RSS feeds and we will see at the end of this video what we can do with them …
Then there are the news sources in English: there are really three that are important that need to be followed: the Search Engine Roundtable, the Land and the Journal. With these three, by the way, we shouldn’t miss the big news. Of course, it is in English, but these are really the three most daily sources of information and the ones that will provide the most information.
In France, in fact, apart from Abondance, I don’t know of any other source of information in French about daily – I mean daily – news on search engines, and especially about the “Actu Moteurs” newsletter. I remind you that this is a free newsletter that is sent every Thursday and which allows you to be acquainted with everything that is said on the page every day of the week. You can also consult Engine Secrets which is a pretty curated site, an aggregator of information and articles that come from different backgrounds and that are interesting and in which there is a lot of daily news about SEO, of course.
After that, you have more general news sources that talk about web marketing or the web in general, such as a blog moderator, net magazine, small digital or Arobasenet that translates search engine roundtable articles, but this site will only have big news, maybe one or two articles a week or even a month about SEO, hence the big, big news that will be covered, but not the fine news in the daily. It is up to you to see what interests you in this follow-up.
Once you download or target – these are a few examples of site courses, you can add more if you want if you know about others, obviously no problem – I do what I do is collect RSS feeds from all websites and integrate them into the Feedly tool I use in the free version and which is enough for my needs. It’s something I do every morning between 7 and 9 in the morning. Every morning I go to look for articles on Feedly, I have headlines and that’s enough for me at first. If I see that I am interested in something, of course I will read the article. It takes a few minutes, not much. Then I’ll obviously write articles on Abondance and it will take maybe an hour depending on the number of articles I write, but hey, I do, normally at 8am I’m done and start doing work for clients. All RSS feeds from all news sources – I have hundreds of them, but in this video I put only the main ones – are on Feedly and so I follow the news and do not miss information or really hyper accurate, hyper sharp information, but normally doing that we are really aware of what going on in the SEO universe on a daily basis, I still talk of course about SEO news.
That’s it, the next video will be about the extensive articles I didn’t talk about today. I offer you the usual short videos on the subject. Thank you for your attention, for your loyalty and see you soon on the new Abundance video. Thanks and goodbye! »
