Financial aid for education

You may be given various aids to help you cover the costs of school and school life.

Exceptional bonus for the beginning of the 2022 school year

As part of a series of measures voted in the Act on Extraordinary Measures to Protect Purchasing Power and in the Amendment to the Finance Act of 2022, it was decided that an exceptional return to school will be paid on September 15, 2022 to the following people:

  • Those that influence social minimums (for example: RSA, AAH, Aspa…), assistance for housing and for scholarship recipients : this bonus will be €100 per household (+ €50 per child).
  • Those who are above social minimums and who receive a bonus for activity : an additional extraordinary payment is planned for the beginning of the school year in addition to the 4% increase in the activity bonus already made on the 1st.ahem July.

If you qualify for this exceptional bonus, payment will be made automatically the organization from which your social minimums depend (for example, the family benefits fund or Pôle Emploi).

Back to School Allowance (Ars)

The Return to School Allowance (Ars), which is available for all levels of education, is a grant paid by CAF or MSA. This financial assistance enables families with at least one school-age child 6 to 18 years (for the beginning of the school year 2022, the child must be born between 16.9.2004 and 31.12.2016), to finance part of the expenses related to the beginning of the school year, such as the purchase of school supplies.

Ars is subject to a resource ceiling depending on the number of dependent children. For the beginning of the 2022 school year, they are these your resources for 2020 which serve as a reference:

* Please note that if your resources slightly exceed the ceilings, you may be paid a differential back-to-school allowance. It is also calculated based on your income.

The height of Ars depends on the age of the child and is for back to school 2022 from :

  • €376.98 (for a child aged 6-10, born from 1.1.2012 to 31.12.2016)
  • €397.78 (for a child aged 11-14, born between 01.01.2008 and 31.12.2011)
  • €411.56 (for a child aged 15-18, born from 16.9.2004 to 31.12.2007).

Targeted support systems

Part of the aid is allocated according to the level of education: elementary, middle or high school. It can be financial assistance at the national level (scholarships from universities or secondary schools, bonuses, etc.) or local (within a region or a ministry).

Help with registration for a sports activity

Are you the parent of a child or a student and would you like to register him for a sports activity for the 2022-2023 season?

Know that you can benefit from Sports passport ! This is a contribution from €50 (for an eligible child/young adult) to finance all or part of the child/student’s registration in an eligible sports structure.

Tax bonus for school fees for dependent children

As part of the tax reduction for family reasons, you can claim an income tax reduction under certain conditions if your child attends college, high school or is studying at a university.

Tax bonus when employing an employee from home

If you plan tohire a home tutor to help your children, know that you may be able to take advantage of a tax credit for tutoring expenses.

The amount of the tax benefit is equal to 50% of the expenses incurred within the limit €12,000, possibly increased. Please note that online tutoring courses are not eligible for this program.
