Quebec Election 2022 | What should you know about early voting?

Where can I vote in advance?

The address of your polling station, as well as its opening days and hours, are listed in the registration notice sent by mail at the beginning of the election period. It can also be found on the Elections Quebec website. All citizens are entitled to advance voting provided they are on the Quebec electoral roll.

  • September 23, 2022 from 9:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • September 24, 2022 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • September 27, 2022 from 9:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

You study

You can vote for one of the candidates in your riding directly at your post-secondary educational institution (CEGEP, colleges and universities) if it has a polling station. It will be possible to do so on Friday, these polling stations will open ten days before the elections. Voting will continue next week depending on the schedule of individual facilities. Employees and potential other voters will also be able to use this method of voting.

You are outside of Quebec

If you will be outside Quebec during the election, either for work or vacation, you can register to vote outside Quebec and vote by mail. However, the request had to be sent no later than September 14.

If you return to Québec later than expected without notifying Éelections Québec, you will no longer be able to vote by mail as of the return date you previously indicated on your application to vote outside of Québec. From this date you will have to vote in Quebec at a polling station. If you return earlier than expected without notifying Éelections Québec, your ballot will be sent to the address you provided in your original application.

You cannot travel for health reasons

If you cannot move for health reasons, it is possible to vote from the comfort of your home. Simply contact your returning officer no later than 19 September 2022. You will then be informed of the day and time of your visit by the team responsible for your registration. If you are in isolation as a result of COVID-19 or if you are at risk of complications due to contamination from COVID-19 due to your health condition, you can also vote by mail.

You are in a CHSLD or a private home for the elderly

Éelections Québec teams will travel to CHSLDs and private senior residences so you don’t have to go to another location to vote. You can vote in common areas, if there is a polling station, or in your room. If you want to vote from your chamber, you must contact the returning officer for your riding by September 19 at the latest.
