Call for partners to integrate the African University of Youth and Development 2022 programme

After a break of several years, the African University for Youth and Development (AUYD) will start again in November, which will revive the activities of the North-South Center in the field of cooperation between the youth of Africa and Europe.

In 2007, CNS co-organized the first ever Afro-European Youth Summit in Lisbon. Following this important step, the “Africa-Europe Youth Cooperation Program” (a program framework supported by both the European Union and the African Union) allowed a wide range of activities to be carried out until 2015, including the exchange of best practices. and the policy development processes of the Joint Africa-EU Strategy (JAES).

The 2022 edition of AUYD aims to contribute to the creation of a new transparent, stable and inclusive Euro-African youth platform by offering youth actors the opportunity to connect through a cross-sectoral approach to youth policies. The event responds to the needs expressed by many youth actors, to have more dynamic and flexible spaces that would enable the identification of common priorities, the sharing of new practices, convergence towards a common political orientation and the support of greater coordination between all actors. in the field of youth in Europe and Africa.

The African University for Youth and Development 2022 will be held in Mindelo, Cape Verde from 22 to 26 November 2022.

Like other “summer universities” organized by CNS, AUYD 2022 is a partnership-based event that brings together hundreds of young people, youth workers, field experts and decision-makers, offering a space for all to meet, discuss, build capacity. and cooperate on youth policy issues.

Youth organizations and any other youth-related institutions operating in (Europe, Africa and the Middle East) are invited to organize an activity under JAU 2022.

The weekly schedule allows organizations to carry out their own activities (trainings, seminars, board meetings, etc.) while ensuring enough time for everyone to participate in the plenary sessions (joint schedule) that will deal with the annual theme: “Building Effectively, Responsible and Inclusive institutions’ as one of the three dimensions of SDG 16.

Given the specific opportunity to re-launch the AUYD, special plenary sessions will be dedicated to reflections on Africa-Europe cooperation in the field of youth, the follow-up to the Abidjan Youth Declaration from the 4th Africa-Europe Youth Summit and reflection on the EU Action Plan for Youth in Outdoor Activities and the main the results of the youth component of the Africa and Europe Week 2022. The AUYD 2022 joint program will also explore the interrelationship between the Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) program and SDG16, linking the efforts of youth civil society to build peace with measures taken by governments and international institutions to ensure the protection of human rights .
