300 young people trained in higher education in Millau are welcomed throughout the month.
meWe must be able to offer our students a pleasant environment. “ Séverine Peyretout, delegated adviser for higher education in the municipality of Millau Grands Causses, understood this well. In a small population area like Millavois, in order to be attractive, you have to pamper student acceptance.
For this, together with his team, he is trying to develop an accessible offer. The latest measure, the establishment of two free activities every month. “We got approval from Crouse, who was favorable to this project”, says Séverine Peyretout. Conferences, sports and cultural trips will therefore be offered to students in the city.
In the same way, the elected representative wants to highlight Crous accommodation in the city of gloves. “They are not well known, I keep getting asked about the offer we can offer to students in terms of accommodation when we have a reserved residence” she elaborates. 24 apartments are located on the rue du Jumel, in the premises adjacent to the Hôtel-Dieu, for rent from €320 to €350. “Besides, they are rarely complete”adds Élodie Alinat, project manager for higher education in the commune community.
With three full classes of 70 students each, training at the Institute of Nursing (Ifsi) continues to be the most popular in Millau. In addition, Jean-Vigo High School offers two BTSs in accounting and business management, which can accommodate around thirty people. “We also have about fifteen students at CCI, ten students at Connected Campus and seven of them are currently taking the License 3 course in Tourism and Outdoor Sports Project Management.”says Élodie Alinat.
A total of almost 300 students, which will increase to slightly more than 500 with the integration of BPJEPS, trainees from the National Conservatory of Arts and Crafts (Cnam) or even the training of medical assistants. Courses that are not officially considered to be part of higher education, although they represent an apprenticeship after obtaining a high school diploma.
Regarding the issues of student uncertainty, the elected representative wishes to present certain discounts offered by Millavois. “Subscription of city buses is free, discounted prices are set with swimming pool, cinema, etc.” Also for this new school year Facebook and Instagram page student in Millau was opened to convey various information, such as job offers for students or accommodation. Another goal is to conclude contracts with merchants in order to “provide interesting offers”.
Integration day on September 20
In order to promote cohesion among the different students of the city, sometimes dispersed between several locations, the first year of training in Millau will be offered an integration afternoon. “This is part of the goal of creating student spirit”, adds Élodie Alinat. For this purpose, meet on September 20 at 14:00 at the base of Roc et canyon for an exploration rally leading to several places in the city. Then go to the museum to find a seat and then join the terrace where participants will be offered a buffet, all animated by a local DJ. The most revelers will then be invited to Okfé to end the evening in style. “It is open to all students in the city, we expect the presence of 150 people”says Séverine Peyretout.
